Do you think celebs and/or their PR hang out on DCUM or other social media like Reddit

Other social media absolutely.

Well, people outside of dcum find threads through Google searches…the Hilaria Baldwin thread, for example or the Jen influencer person…and I have a hunch the Blake Lively legal thread case has been taken over by lawyers, etc from far beyond DMV…and the DCA plane crash thread…I feel like people in the aviation world found it…so it’s possible.

Why lawyers? Or lawyer/PR people? There seems to be a basic but imperfect level understanding of legal issues at times, and the posters clearly put time in (or have someone invest time) in reading legal filings etc.

Ha ha ha.

No, nothing from the protagonists themselves, but a lot from random people, some with professional expertise, who get very invested in explaining their point of view.

Personally I think it’s more than that on occasion. When there is a major PR crisis/issue, I suspect there are people who monitor and post even as far down as DCUM

Yes. I’ve seen obviously fake PR posts on celebrities threads.

Oh yeah, 100000% you can tell.

They definitely do.

Nope. I think you guys inflate how influential and important DCUM is to the country. I think PR people have google alerts on their clients, and that's it.

Last year there were random posts in this forum that screamed publicists. The titles would be really long with chatGPT like writing.

Here is an example. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1175774.page

Publicists would not keep their jobs very long if they wrote that badly or made such obvious posts that seem more like trolling than actual admiration. I think there are some mentally ill and/or bored people who find their way to this website, who like to stir things up with nonsense.

That strikes me more as fangirling. Let's be real, this site leans MC/UMC and has lots of people who like to hint they are UHNW and probably not. That's why it's so full of strivers. We're generally way too old and too focused on creating the perfect child to be relevant to celeb PR. We are not their target audience.

As for the PP who brought up the DCA crash, if you think the prolific posters in there are actually pilots and experts, I have a bridge to sell you.

I think you overestimate the Google score of DCUM. It's probably often the top results in your searches because you are using it on a browser that either knows your location (if in the DMV) or you are logged into Google and they know your browsing history. I never used to see DCUM search results, but then I became aware if the website when I became a parent and now it often pops up in my results.

No one I know outside the DC area has ever heard of it.

Politicians are not real celebs. I can absolutely believe politician staffers comment here but nobody cares about them anyway.

There are "social listening" subscription services like Talkwalker which PR firms use to turn up mentions of their clients on social media and the internet. There's another one that covers YouTube and video. They aren't using Google alerts, the software is more sophiciated than that, but they are listening to what is being said.
