Election of any country's leader is a big deal.

Election of the one guy who leads people in all of those other guys countries -- bigger deal. Literally every country in the world has Catholics.

Non-Catholic. YES! The Pope is one of a very small number of people with genuine worldwide influence. I appreciate attention being paid to the person in this role.
