Be careful. At 60k, you have potential to void warranties by not getting everything that’s recommended and getting everything done by an authorized mechanic. |
What warranties are you talking about? The standard warranty from Mazda is 36k bumper to bumper and 60k for the drive train. OP is out of warranty at this point. |
Extended warranties are often offered. None of us knows the package OP bought. We’re just guessing at what OP might need to consider and this is something that is on the list. |
| That is not $200 of service. I would put it at $500 or more for the major items. Not a crazy high amount for a dealer. Of course you can always try so save money by using a shop that is not a dealer and by learning to do some things yourself. For those who have more money than time just paying that makes sense. |
| That’s like Jiffy Lube plus the some fluids and an alignment. Not worth anywhere near $800. |
| $800 is actually very reasonable for everything on the list. It is just that not all items are needed. I would do oil, transmission, rear differential, engine filter for $400 or so. |
Thanks for posting. How does this compare to what is in your owners manual for the 60k service? |
At a dealer…lol |
Bwahahahaha!!! Yeah. In 1978. Get back in your LeBaron and drive back to the memory care center, Gramps, I’m sure they’re wondering where you are. |
NP. Many of the items in the list are things that go on free 30 point safety inspections at dealers and indie garages near me. This package has standard dealer markups. OP will save hundreds going elsewhere. |
“inspection” = “glance at it and see if it’s there and in bad enough shape to sell a replacement, otherwise ignore” lolz. |
|
I read somewhere years ago that tune ups and services are unnecessary. Just do oil changes and maintenance as needed. Since then I’ve never done “ recommended services”
I had a Honda Pilot that lasted until 200k then I sold it. Currently on a 2018 Honda crv with 118k. Only expense this year ( last 12 mos) has been 4 new tires plus oil changes) I’ll prob need new brakes this year. Belts and hoses are all fine. |
Exactly. The dealer will do the same amount of glancing but actually mark up for it. The reason these are often free is they are a way to generate more revenue per service. I once paid $35 to have a license plate bulb replaced because I was lied to when I asked over the phone if it was in a difficult to get to place. |
You never did a rear differential fluid flush? Or your crv is not awd? Not doing it for 118k miles is equivalent to not doing oil changes for 30k miles. Why bother with regular oil changes then? |
