Cold Spring is only enriching literacy. Math stays the same, no more than standard compacted 4/5 math at cold spring.

I don't know if they still did this, but one year so many of the CES students were advanced in math to the point that they did 5/6 math in 4th grade and continued on that path. They usually had kids take a bus to a middle school, but this one particular year they just offered it in house because so many students were at that point. I think it was an anomaly year for that but more likely to happen at a CES than a home school.

Current parent here. There's a couple kids who get bussed into the middle school for math. Currently, some 4th graders in my kid's math 5/6 class.

Have really enjoyed how Cold Spring mixes ALL kids. They started it a few years ago where the only time they separate the community kids and CES kids are in the literacy blocks. There's definitely still parents who are community vs center but all of the teachers try really hard to make us CES families included. Have really enjoyed all the teachers and am really sad to be leaving this year.

For language arts and reading, CES is the best. But not for math and science. A lot of parents opt to stay on Potomac for that reason. And just get ELC at potomac, which is still very good

Cold spring does block scheduling, similar to middle school. 4th and 5th have a dedicated literacy, math & science/ss teacher. The kids are also mixed center/community for math and science/ss, so the only difference in the program is literacy.

Both are schools only some can dream of both are good.

Could Spring was famous for offering AIM to 5th graders so many went on to Algebra in 6th.

There are currently 2 fourth graders who take math 5/6. So they will likely be bussed off to cabin John next year. There are currently 2 fifth graders who go to cabin John for algebra.
