Based on what they’ve shared, OP’s kid likely has garden variety epilepsy - the 80% of epilepsy patients whose seizures are well controlled by medication. They may need to do some trial and error to identify the right medication but going to CHOP is an over the top response to garden variety epilepsy. If OP truly isn’t happy with all of the providers at Children’s and Hopkins (which is bunk given that there’s no way they’ve tried all of them; even if Children’s can be subpar as an institution, there are many excellent individual practitioners there), there are also many other neurologists in private practice in the DC area that would be well equipped to handle garden variety epilepsy. Traveling for care just isn’t warranted yet. |

We see Dr. Gaillard at children's in DC. He books out months in advance but worth it.
My child fortunate that seizures were controlled by medication. Oxycarbezine. |
