is it a really stupid or really good time to buy a car?

Do it but do it now.

You have only a few days to buy. Then you will have to just repair.

I’m also replacing a Subaru Outback, even though I like driving it especially on long trips.

Immmediately before the 25 percent tariffs are added.

You buy a car when you need a car.

You better buy quickly, before the 25% tariffs kick in.

Do your homework. Get on CarFax and see what your car is worth on trade in. Then when you go to buy a car you have an idea what they may give you on a trade. Take the print out of CarFax. Go to your bank and get pre approved loan for 30 grand at a used car rate and a new rate. Be prepared when you go to purchase your car. The dealer rates are always high. Your bank maybe much lower.

I just bought a Honda CRV. Loan rate this month is only 1.99 percent (or 2.49 percent for hybrid models). Time spent filling out finance application and getting approved for loan was under 15 minutes, no haggling.
