Been taking all intensified classes available but other kids can just signed up too but she seems to be grouped with same group of kids (more or less) since 6th in most classes.

Wouldn't say they receive anything extra except for the math pathway.

Yeah, and the “extra” they get in 8th grade accelerated math (aka geometry) is an extra hot mess.

What do you mean? Different MS, but my kid’s 8th grade algebra class was fine.

I think algebra in 8th grade is pretty standard — the geometry in 8th grade is usually not a good idea and at dhms is not taught well.
The kids are grouped into teams. None of the teams is a “gifted team”. You take classes with other kids in your team all three years of middle school. There’s no gifted tracking, and everyone can take intensified classes. My older child who is gifted had the same teachers as my middle one who is not. Same homework. There’s nothing explicit when you get to middle school, just the label.

There is no gifted "team", but they tell use there are gifted clusters within the intensified classes. I don't know that they're obvious to kids or parents, but that's what DHMS reports when describing its gifted services.

Not rigorous at all unless intensified and even then it’s what I’d consider normal.

The addition help is for any 8th grade math student not just geometry.
How do you know the 8th grade geometry teacher is not returning?
You should pay for tutoring if you do not have believe in the public schools or better yet try private schools.

Maybe we should support the school instead of what you are doing on this site.

The 8th grade geometry teacher is doing fine. It is the overly entitled, overly privileged parents that is the problem.

Everybody thinks their child is gifted.

How do you know the teacher will not return?
You should be more supportive and positive.
Maybe you should teach!
