Walking pneumonia cough

Anonymous
8yr old diagnosed Dec 28. 5 days of the z pack. She still has a cough so we took her back in just last week on Jan 10. Doctor said there was no need for more meds unless the cough got noticeably worse or there was a new fever. It's definitely improving but still there.

, same here. Pneumonia November 18 on xray, but I did not have any cough, at all. Fever, achy, tired. Lungs sound clear, I insisted on xray as we had pneumonia in the house. XRay showed it. Took z-pack, 3 days later like new. Brutal cough started a week AFTER I finished antibiotics... Lasted 4 weeks, and then some hanging plegm for 2 more weeks

We had it at my house in December. My teenager completed a Z pack before CHristmas. His lungs are still not back to normal - he is doing a steroid inhaler for a month and Albuterol when needed. We were told that should work. If not, we will have to try an oral steroid.

Ped listened to lungs, heard a “crackle” and diagnosed walking pneumonia. Started azithromycin. We are now on Sunday, going to day 4 of antibiotics, and there is no improvement in the cough. Nights are especially terrible, lots of continuous hacking with what sounds like a wet ocean of phlegm.

Main question is how long is typical to see cough improvement with antibiotics. Thank you.

we all got sick mid-November, right before Thanksgiving. it's about a week now since all of us (2 adults, 2 kids 5 and 9, and a grandma) stopped coughing... it was insane.

this syrup did help ease the coughing, especially at night. there is also adult version.

good luck and hang in there!

This was us. College DD was sick with either whooping off or walking pneumonia at Thanksgiving. Treatment is the same so it didn't matter. We did a z-pack. She felt better the cough lingered until a few days ago.
