All Fours - I have a complicated relationship with this one. I can see why it would provoke discussion--I definitely would have a lot to discuss if I ever met anyone who finished the whole thing. It's self indulgent, well written, absurd, compelling, with some scenes that are quite sexually icky (icky in the way where they make me feel gross thinking back on them, several months after I read it. Needless to say PP who bailed at the inserting a finger moment, I am happy to inform you that you really did not get anywhere close to the weirdest sex stuff in this book.). I don't really recommend it, but it gave me a ton to think about.

James - I thoroughly enjoyed this book, gave me a lot to think about in a way that was (thankfully) totally different than All Fours. It made me want to reread Huck Finn but I haven't acted on that so far.

I tried Good Material but couldn't get into it. Maybe I gave up too easily.

Haven't read the other two but they sound like they'd be worth a try.
