Recipe didn’t change after the acquisition so I’m not sure what that’s about. The tying it to Trump thing is kinda pathetic, and if you don’t want to buy it, don’t. On every food thread ever there’s always the bores that chime in with “can do x better a home at the fraction of the cost” this being no exception. What did I miss here?
OP, this isn’t directed at you, you asked an honest question. More directed at the exceedingly boring and predictable posters that always show up at these things. |
Raos is our go-to for every day sauce!
|
I thought tomato sauces are supposed to have a little sugar added to cut the acidity? Otherwise the food you serve could upset guests’ stomachs. |
Everyone seems to love it but I find it to be very acidic. |
Your statement is false. Read the dang article. A man, who is not a Trump, died ten years ago and his daughter, who is not a Trump, inherited wealth that he gained investing in Rao's. There is nothing at all about buying Rao's that supports the Trumps. Just stop. |
No, that’s just for flavor. commercial sauces tend to way overdo it. I used a cheaper brand recently and the difference from Raos was stark - it was like a dessert sauce! |
Well the ex wife who is no longer a Trump |
I always liked Rao's because it has no added sugar. Then I found Newman's Own, and it's a dupe. Zero sugar, a fraction of the cost.
Also, Newman's Own isn't owned by a corporation or supports the Trumps. 100% of profits go to Paul Newman's foundation. Wow, I just realized how much this sounds like an ad lol. I swear I'm just a suburban housewife who likes to make easy pasta. |
I like Rao’s. Vittoria’s is also good. As is Carmine’s.
Marcella Hasan 4 ingredient tomato sauce is also easy and good. |
It's made from whole tomatoes and olive oil. Some cheaper brands are made from tomato puree and/or canola oil. |
^ Also Rao's uses onions, garlic, etc. whereas other brands use dehydrated ones or extracts. Also, it doesn't have citric acid and other additives.
The thought is you pay more but get higher quality ingredients. |
It tastes the same as it always has. It’s good. |
+1 Campbell’s isn’t going to change the recipe of a successful brand. And not everything has to be about Trump. He must live in some people’s heads. |
It doesn’t taste the same at all. They absolutely ruined it. |
People talk it up more than it is |
