2029 Boys Lax

29 boys lacrosse parents are apparently the chillest group of parents in the DMV. Clocking in at just under 3 posts per month since the October inception is impressive.Pat yourselves on the back for having lives outside of youth lacrosse. I have my suspicions but kudos to you all for following the golden rule. If you don't have anything nice to say, have your kid play another sport.

This is the summer '29 kids will move around. It is also when some kids grow and develop by leaps and bounds, others stay the same, and others fall behind, so what you see in the fall isn't necessarily what you get in the spring, or what you will see when these kids are freshmen and sophomores.

I think some families are looking to move on from ML, and they are looking at NL, but I have heard DM is like CM, but with a smile. I don't believe it, but it is what I heard, you know, like DJT says, "A lot of people are saying"

Sometimes going where you can play a lot and the coaching is excellent is the best choice. Beware of teams with giant rosters, or tons of mid-season acquisitions, or imports from New England West Boarding Schools.

Have fun, and keep the end game in mind.

Lot of reclassing will be happen which will create some spots but don’t forget a lot of 28s will be dropping down to 29s

This is the year all of the stud players who have been expertly instructed on DCUM to play rec until 8th grade take over club rosters...hasn't happened yet on our team, but I am sure we are the anomaly

Lazy 29 parents need to pick up the smack talk. How are the guys feeling this summer before they take the leap into High School?

TC coach stepped down! Time to see the rosters shuffle.

I wasn't aware Top Caliber had a 29 team.

The OP isn't talking about Top Caliber but True Chesapeake. I am not a parent on True Chesapeake but do know people over there. Anyway, the rumor is that at the end of this summer travel season (I think the 29s only have 2 more tournaments) the HC is taking his core group of kids (not sure on numbers but suspect about 12-15 of a 25ish roster) over to Crabs. They will then take the best of Crabs and the kids coming over from TC to form one team.

This means those kids looking in on the outside of TC, depending on location will need to find a new club. If kids are in the DC area or NOVA (because some of TC's roster is former VLC kids) will be looking at ML, NL, DCE, VLC, and True. The Baltimore TC kids will be looking at some of the other Baltimore clubs like FCA, Team 91, etc. There is no Crabs B team so not sure what those kids will do. Though if there is enough interest between the fringe TC/Crabs kids, I'd guess a B team could form.

We aren't even to the summer silly season.

the lesson for DC area players is stay away from True, because you never know what you are really getting. Lord knows that MadLax, DCE, and NL have their flaws, but at least you know who you are dealing with and that the team won't disappear out from under you.

How many former VLC actually play for TC? I thought they were mostly on other clubs already. Why is the head coach moving clubs?

There were between 5-7 - Enough that TC held a weekly practice somewhere in college park to make it easier for the NOVA parents. Not sure the return home to the mothership Crabs Org. will be as accommodating since they generally practice at Gilman and BL but who knows.

With HOCO over there arent as many practices throughout the entire year so in theory it will be "easier." And probably not all those VA kids make the cut eitjer.

Sorry to answer you question on leaving. This is just a guess but True places restrictions on some tournaments that individual teams can go to - mostly when there are national team conflicts. But, this isn't always true.

Next Level is a mess, they brought in players from all over, they don’t practice together and the head coach is often missing coaching the NL circuit team Mojo. Not a recipe for success
