Wide awake since 3:30 am

Saturday morning my dog threw up at 320am then I had to get up at 5 for a 12 hour work day.
Saturday night I was in bed at 830pm.

This is my life too, but I go to sleep at 8:30.

That happened to me once too. I got up and baked some scones and biscuits. Caught up on TV, had a couple of cups of coffee and ended up enjoying myself.

It was a long day, but it ended up not being a lousy day.

I can remember the last night I fell asleep at 10pm and didn’t wake until 6am was one summer night, on a Sunday, 20 years ago. Welcome to my world.

Same! It amazes me that people post when they have had one bad night of sleep. I’ve been an insomniac on and off my whole life. My 40s have been particularly bad, even with magnesium and melatonin and all the other things I’ve tried.

Op, I bet you’re not as tired as you think you’ll be. Don’t make it a mind game, find your energy and just keep going. If you sleep well generally then this won’t be such a huge energy deal in your life.

I'm trying to think of the last time I WASN'T awake at 3:30. And yes I've tried and still take various sleeping aids.

Why do you think you cannot sleep?

OP, how old are you? This is consistent with my experience during perimenopause.

Will plain old magnesium help? I definitely have some in my medicine cabinet.

Yes. That’s what I take

I'm sorry about your insomnia, but this isn't true. If someone who gets 8 hours regularly gets only 4 hours one night, they will be very tired.

Insomnia is the worst.
