If the Fuller girl is the future of our full team then we need to change something fast. There are great players out there that are obviously not getting evaluated properly.

Fuller girl is in fact the future face of US Women's Soccer.

ECNL is a huge issue. Claim they are the best but do nothing to elevate or enforce a style of play. You can watch it locally every week. Low block defending and hope for mistakes and set pieces that’s how our country plays it is awful. Spain teaches all of its players the same way regardless of club, and when top players migrate to top academies and national teams they have been playing with possession based principals for years and years. Because of that players have better technique, can deal with pressure and are better decision makers.

Cannot develop technique, grow resistant to pressure on the ball and develop decision making when you just kick the ball. Parents, coaches and leagues all responsible.

No US club team plays this way. All play possession. This is a really old and tired comment that is just untrue. And you do not judge anything based on a game with Spain. 15-0 would not allow you to reach a conclusion.

Not even close in my opinion. Don't see it at all. Way too early to tell...I certainly am rooting for her, but after the hype I was expecting something way better.

Fuller is protoype USWNT 6. WHy? I don't know but I'm willing to learn because size does seem to matter in the women's game

That is the US style of play. It is very physical with bigger fast players. There is no midfield play, lots of one on one and long balls to run down. The US always has problems breaking down a low block defense, seeing the development of play(2-3 passes in the future), playing in tight spaces, playing under consistent defensive pressure and how to play against a team with high speed of play. If you turn the ball over against a team like Spain in 3-4 passes Spain will be in your box.

Watch the Spanish women professional teams. They train and play under pressure all the time. Their youth teams always drill with one or two players pressuring the ball- even on throw in drills. Many of the US players could not play in Spain.

Good thing this isn't Spain.

Lols if North Korea does better than USA. Can someone please explain that ‘anomaly’?

North Korea won the u20 World Cup. They did better than everybody. That includes Spain.

NK has a history of doing well in the u-20 and below. But their senior team falls off significantly.

U-x is GREAT for watching the talent pool develop and monitoring the health of the player pipeline, but it doesn’t mean the world is burning if we’re losing to Spain in U-17.

PP didn’t mention Spain at all, so it’s bizarre you feel compelled to resort to such poor argumentation.
Needless to say, it would behoove you to know that currently Spain is the World Cup champions.
Additionally, they were U20 WC champions 2 years ago.
Additionally, they’re current U17 WC champions back to back in both 2018 and 2022.

Got beaten by a team that doesn’t even have a pro league nor youth academies. No narcissist propaganda on individual player or club rankings.

What do you mean? She didn't play well or she played so much better than everyone else?

Did not see the game but the US style of play and skill set is very vulnerable to packing the low block and counter attacking. The US does not do well in tight spaces, has a slow speed of play, slow defensive reaction to speed of play(ie not anticipating passing lanes, too quick to get physical and always one or two players out of position) and when they are stopped from running forward. Winning when the other team is in a defensive shell requires midfield play, comfortable in tight spaces and high speed of play.

The bolded part is correct, but not what US soccer recruits for. Majority of the opportunities go to the biggest/fastest players.
