1) there’s plenty of room for you to change lanes behind me.
2) stats prove MD drivers are much safer than VA drivers. Do you know what that says about you, OP? It says you’re a self-centered impatient person who can’t be bothered to read or understand statistical data. |

My family headed north for a short vacation recently and were stunned by the insane things we saw on the MD side of the beltway. The most crazy behavior was on the north side of 495 where it is twisty.
The worstwas a driver in a piece of sh*t car who came to a complete stop on 495 and made a right turn (90 degrees) across 2 lanes of 495 to take an exit they missed while almost hitting the concrete barrier at the exit. Traffic was heavy but moving. How they avoided being hit or hitting another car amazes me. Who the h3ll does this? |
210/Indian Head Highway is what DCUM means when it says “Maryland drivers”. Because what they really mean, is black divers. Hence all the little hints about Nissan Altimas, Dodge Chargers, sportbikes, etc. They never seem to mention Subaru Outback’s on I-270. Ever notice that? |

I think virgina drivers are more worried about fines and being harassed by the police than actually driving. I was driving in Maryland earlier and a Virginia driver switches lanes to get in front of me. No big deal except he immediately slammed on his brakes. You should not slam on your brakes when switching from one of the rightblanes to the left lanes. Its like thr driver thought he exceeded the speed limit and a cop would come from nowhere and ticket him. Forget the flow of traffic. |
Sweetheart, that's because there's no enforcement in Maryland. And your studies don't differentiate between the state where infractions happen, and where the drivers are actually registered. Come visit Alexandria on Rt 1 during rush hour, and you'll see that 80% of the drivers are Maryland drivers. The location matters not, so much as where the vehicles/drivers are registered. |
Using a straw man? OP did NOT say they are from Virginia. You are disproving an argument different from the one OP makes. Oh and, Virginia thinks it’ll be grand if Md drivers did not cross the bridge into Va to work in Va.
|
“Sweetheart”, keep coping. You’re full of shit. Find other sources besides a bunch of whiny DC rubes with feelings and anecdotes. |
Of course you have to double check even with your blinkers on! They aren't 'moses blinkers'! I don't think OP was doing this since they mentioned specifically having a space and the idiot closing off the space, but moses blinkers are the people who turn them on and think that traffic will part like the red sea to let them in. You need to have a space, signaling is nice, go quickly and don't slow down, and like a PP said, sometimes there's plenty of room to merge AFTER the car. I think people need to play more video games and trajectory sports to understand where they are in space as a moving object. |
| No question VA drivers are awful, some of the worst I’ve seen, but MD is another level. I’m guessing most never really learn to drive in a formal way. Does MD require any kind of testing to get a license, or can people just print them at home? |
I don't speed up but i don't slow down either ‐‐ because there's not enough space for you to get in front of me. You actually expect me to hit my brakes and "let you in" when there is NO ONE behind me and you can simply change lanes behind me. |
This. The 1-2 Virginia posters who have no lives, so they come on here periodically to bash Maryland drivers, are deeply embarassing--to Virginia. |
|
My main issue is always the Teslas cutting you off on the Dulles Toll rd.
|
| None of you DMV snowflakes would survive a week driving in New Jersey. |
| Stop with the "Maryland drivers" "Virginia drivers" "Oh it was a DC driver, figures". Everyone in this area is a terrible driver, we're all too distracted with our phones, and we've all learned to drive in different parts of the country or world. There is no continuity. |
