It is not though. Median at UPenn is 1540, Duke is 1550, JHU is 1550. 1510 is at or below 25% for all three schools: Penn (1510-1560), Duke (1520-1570), and JHU (1530-1560).

MIT and Cal Tech were the only two colleges pre covid with average SATs > 1500. None of these schools have anywhere near the averages advertised, if everyone's scores had been included. Since almost all of the top 20 is going test required or preferred, it's likely the current average SATs which exclude TO, will drop over the next two cycles.

Definitely over 1500 precovid. I wouldn't submit OP.

Public school kids have to submit

Due to test score inflation, I would expect middle ranges for these schools to be 1500 to 1550 now. Given that these schools take around 40-50% of the class ED, expect the 25th percentile to be above 1510. People expecting dramatic drops due to Test Optional will be in for a shock.

Meant to say 1500 to 1550 post test optional.

+1
The top ones will have the same 75th they always did(1560-1570) and the 25th will likely be 1500-1510 since in 2019 the 99th %ile was 1500 and now it is 1530 if we believe college board data

Our private has told everyone to submit if above the pre-TO 25th percentile unless a school specifically says do not(tulane)

We are at most a year away from every highly selective university going back to test mandatory, which will largely bring test scores back to pre-Covid averages. You should absolutely submit a 1510 this cycle, which is a score that puts you in the top 1 to 2 percent of all test takers.

No matter what happens, if the student is rejected it won't be because of the 1510. However, not submitting any score at all is very likely to contribute to a rejection since it will naturally be assumed they scored much lower. A 1510 is good enough to have an app seriously considered anywhere. It will be the rest of the app that will matter.

1510 is well within this middle 50%. I would submit or risk the assumption that your score was actually far lower.
