| Do all ES have a counselor or two, or do they float to different schools? |
Every school should have at least 1. Some have 1.5. |
You sound more like a moody student than a professional regarding your writing and vocabulary skills. 9th-grade level sentence. Educated adults don't write like that. |
Another teen poster. Can you imagine a GS-15 or even a 2nd year law student writing like that? |
DP. Plenty of people with multiple higher degrees write like that, PP. This is not a class or work! Take it easy. |
Is this a Fed job? No. Don't think about it so much |
| Someone had asked about changing HS counselor. How can you change kid's MS counselor? |
| What is a counselor's role in each grade of high school? For example, in 9th grade they meet students at the beginning of the year. What do they work with students during the other years of high school? |
Probably not. Most of the time the MS counselor assignments are by grade and they rotate yearly to stay with the same kids for all 3 years |
I have also wondered this as my kid is now a 10th grader. With the addition of College and Career Offices in each HS now, are the counselors less involved in the college application process than they used to be? I know my daughters HS has a massive Wellness Center with mental health services so the Counselors aren't doing that role as often either. So what are they doing other than making schedules? |
Does the College Career "navigator" write one of the recommendation letters for college applying students now? If they don't, the student's counselor will still do that. |
No, the student's assigned counselor will write the letter. |
Mainly facilitating course registration for the following year. |
Do they assist in advising which courses student should take based on interest and ability or actual registering for the course? |
Both, but they have so many students per counselor they only have time to meet briefly with each student. |
