+1. And don't drink and drive. |
| If OP's goal is to get everyone to buy a smaller car, I think it's a harder, not easier, sell with these stats and studies. |
Or drive at excessive speeds. That would probably save a lot of the people. |
| I drive a Honda accord. The problem as a driver is that all of the folks in vans and suvs block my line of sight. At turns with two lanes, it feels really, really dangerous. My husband didn’t mind, but he’s taller. I didn’t feel that way at all twenty years ago, because everybody drove sedans. |
I think the point is that, above a certain weight, increasing the size doesn’t provide additional protection to the driver and passengers but does a lot more damage to the other driver and passengers. |
3,600 pounds for the SUV. It's actually pretty light. |
There are 41 deaths per 10,000 crashes involving vehicles weighing 6,800lbs and 12 deaths per 10,000 crashes involving vehicles weighing 3,500lbs. |

The title isn’t correct. The people in the big cars are not being killed (as often anyway).
|
It means 'Americans' collectively. |
Same. This was such an awful story. So many lives ruined. |
|
Electric cars are too heavy for guardrails!!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vgVnC1_rnns Ban them. |
| I traded in a small car because I felt unsafe surrounded by SUVs and trucks. |
| It's an arms race. And you selfish jerks driving tanks are making everyone's life worse. You should remove yourselves from society. |
You have an opinion! That means I should do something! It is urgent! |
|
Yup. USA has the the absolute dumbest infrastructures and cars for sale on the planet. SUVs shouldn't even exist. They're an abomination that is the product of nothing more than auto industry lobbying.
