I hated the book. I have literally no interest in the movie. |
Blake lively using the launch to hawk her hair line is giving me the major ick. Combined with the fact that she made her own cut that then failed in testing and now the director won’t speak to her. I usually love her and I still love a lot of things about her but a. Never noticed her hair being so amazing and b. Don’t springboard off a movie to launch a hair line. She could easily have done that whenever. Just feel so cringe |
The ads just make it look like unhappy crap happens and the name/tone implies abuse so it's not something I'd ever have an interest in watching. |
That’s not completely true ….what I will say is…. It’s not just Blake and Justin Baldoni (director/main character) not talking to each other – it’s pretty much the entire cast/Colleen Hoover Also not doing any press with Justin – and no longer following him on social media. Justin only took pictures with his wife on the red carpet at the Premier and had no interactions with the rest of the cast. Sounds like Blake and Ryan had to infuse a ton of money into the movie to get it back on track. |
It’s actually a pretty eye-opening look into why women stay with abusers and a beautiful story of how Blake’s character comes out ok on the other side. many people wonder why a woman just won’t leave an abuser, but there’s so much emotional aspects to it. Colleen Hoover wrote this book about her own mother’s experience with an abuser. |
Hoover is such a sub-par author but this was slightly readable.
I’ll watch only for Brandon sklenar |
I definitely have told people who have suffered abuse that it might hit to close to home. I really liked the movie. |
Yeah, I’ve been reading about this. But the way everyone has turned on the director feels very - middle school ostracism. It’s cruel and unkind and gives me flashbacks to my youth! That being said, maybe he did something egregious. |
Agree. What irks me is that Colleen really bought for him to direct and play the character. And so for her to turn against them like that just seems like she got caught up in the whole Blake lively and her hair phenomenon lol. I get it - she’s a star, but it does seem petty of Colleen and like she just acts on a whim. Justin is not a newcomer… He is pretty established in Hollywood so it would be surprising if he did something completely egregious and we aren’t hearing about it. He seems like a really nice guy, devoted to his wife, has a ton of fans, just seems weird that they turned against him. I’m excited to see the movie but also happy that the press etc. is going to die down now that opening opening weekend is done. |
Even if they had a difference of opinion creatively or he was a bad director - to unfollow on social media and refuse to appear with him…very immature. And apparently the screenwriter was surprised to learn that Ryan Reynolds rewrote some scenes. That’s disrespectful of someone who I imagine has had great professional success in the industry. I don’t like the egos. |
And I was just reading about the director - he’s has an incredible career in his own right. I think I am no longer fond of Blake Lively. |
The book isn't good - the concept is good but the execution is bad. It also bugs me that the movie cast is so much older than the characters in the book, because I thought that the story kind of worked with a very young, naive woman, in a way that it wouldn't with someone in her mid 30s. Of course, that's also giving any credit to the characters resembling real people, which in the book, they do not. |
It’s not about high school drama, behind the scenes some are saying he dropped the ball and many costly overruns happened which is what led Blake and Ryan having to fund the movie and Blake step in as another Director. |
I’m sorry but there were rumors since Ryan was married to Scarlett that he is extremely controlling. To hear that he wrote a scene in this movie and took over some creative control is bonkers to me. I know a lot of us love Ryan Reynolds but were Colleen Hoover fans and fans of the book begging for Ryan to take creative control of this story? Seems absurd.
To hear that he or more realistically his people rewrote some of this movie and took over some creative control is bonkers to me. Team Justin on this one. |
Sounds like once he provided the funding, he thought he was owed… |
