Anyone else not get pickleball?

And I don’t get golf. People are different and you are just divisive.

It’s for people in their 80s and 90s who can no longer play tennis. Sadly taken up by the lazy to look athletic. Sound is really annoying. Will never live near anything that can be converted into a pickleball court.

I've seen more injuries from pickleball this year.

It’s for fun non- competitive non-intense people.

You don’t have to be obsessive like running, you don’t have to hate life 1/2 the time like golf, you don’t have to be masochists like tennis, it’s not boring and antisocial like going to a gym.

This. Although I have met a few intense competitive people who treat it like table tennis and are just jerks.

Ditto and I just say to them “you're playing pickleball, remember that”… lol

I don’t get it. It’s just hitting a ball around, right? Like I get that might be fun sometimes but I don’t get the obsession.

Complaining about an activity you've never tried. Cool.

She misses her wine night with friends.

We have badminton which is classic classy pickleball.

It's annoying that the culture chases trends and wastes money switching between fads.

My husband and I joined a pickleball league because we really needed a reason to get out of the house once a week and do something together that’s not about our kids or work. Just something fun and frivolous. We are terrible at it—absolute dead last in the league—but we both have a great time and are glad we signed up. It is nice to be around people of all ages—20s to 60s—just having fun together.

I’m a runner who can easily top out my age bracket in a 5K or 10K, but I was never good at sports requiring hand-eye coordination, so this is a humbling challenge for me. My husband was good at tennis when he was younger, but doesn’t exercise much anymore, so it’s good for him to be up and moving around.

Which is all to say that there are a lot of good things about pickleball. Except for the noise, I gather. But we play indoors, far from anyone’s house.

Not a good analogy. You have to be pretty fit to play badminton, and can easily get injured.

We live near a pickleball court (used to be tennis court). The noise it brings, and the people hogging all the parking (and parking HORRIBLY), are incredibly annoying.

I don't have to try it, to know that I hate it - and its players.
