8th Grade Awards Ceremony??

Anonymous
When my kid was in 6th grade during Covid there was a very nice Zoom ceremony for awards, in which he and many other kids were recognized. One award that made a big impact on him was the recognition for kids who had got all As for their entire time in middle school. It was very motivating for him. Come the end of 8th grade he’d worked hard to achieve all As throughout his middle school career and guess what…. no more recognition, in fact no awards ceremony at all.

Thx

Did you receive the letter as snail mail or as an email? Another JW alumni family - when my DD “graduated “ two years ago, we received two of those letters. Another friend received three. The number of letters correlated to how many awards the child won. My kid won the SSL and GPA award. Friend won those as well as department award.

Fast forward to this year - older DD received one of those emails from RM (just 1!). I’m assuming she’ll win a group award

DC got nothing for that. Their school does not believe in academic awards or recognizing kids for anything related to academics.

I would ask someone. Tell them your situation m.

It may be as little as the SSL hour thing, but if it’s bigger, don’t you want to be there? Is it a wedding or something that can be rescheduled like a dinner?
