Will Space Force ever go to war? Anyone in the Space Force?

Op here. From a life and career perspective, is this something in the next few years , that would be a good military career for a young adult?

With only 8,000 or so per the PP, is it hard to make the cut or hard to find interested men and women?

OP, it's about satellites and missiles. I don't know whether they work from dangerous locations, which is probably what you're asking.

I've been wondering if they'll get re-absorbed into the other services.

Oh FFS, Trump didn’t create anything. They just shuffled existing parts of the Air Force into a new entity and gave it a cheesy name and logo. Kind of like when Bush created the Department of Homeland Security of 911.

Trump did not “create” it.

“The U.S. Space Force traces its roots to the beginning of the Cold War, with the first military space programs starting in 1945. In 1954, the Air Force established the Western Development Division, the world's first dedicated space organization, under General Bernard Schriever and unified its space forces under Air Force Space Command in 1982. U.S. space forces have participated in every U.S. conflict since the Vietnam War, most notably in the Persian Gulf War, often referred to as the first "space war".

The first discussion of a U.S. Space Force occurred under President Dwight Eisenhower's administration in 1958 and it was nearly established in 1982 by President Ronald Reagan as part of the Strategic Defense Initiative. The 2001 Space Commission argued for the creation of a Space Corps around 2007–2011, but due to the September 11 attacks and war on terror any plans were put on hold. In 2017, Representatives Jim Cooper and Mike Rogers' proposal for a Space Corps passed the House but failed in the Senate. In 2019, the House and Senate resolved their differences to pass the United States Space Force Act. “

This.

It’s a dumb name. I thought Homeland Security was a dumb name too. But, it’s not exactly new, just rearranged.

They have a healthy budget that AWS is happily catering to, by taking.

From what? Space aliens? They seem like a waste of money made up by Trump. We could use that money for student loan forgiveness back on earth where we have real problems.

This whole thing stinks of fake news. Satellites don’t need redneck white kids with guns protecting them.

From Russians attacking them.

For decades Air Force is not able and NASA is not a military .

It’s a stupid name but it’s been around as part of the Air Force but Trump only made it, its own entity.

Space Force protects assets in orbit and threats in orbit - satellites etc. They do not actually patrol space in space ships like in Star Wars. There’s a ton of stuff in orbit that can help or hurt us. Think of it as literally another type of territory: Navy is ocean, coast guard is coasts, air force is skies, army is land, space force is orbit.

I bet there is Russian contractors if Trump made it its own entity.

Exactly, our infrastructure (like most of the world) is now at the mercy of our satellites. There should be protections but I can't trust someone who wants to destroy our country in every way.

Space Force - what a name. That's just calling for jokes about your work! What's the attraction to joining - just the name? Because it's not like there's a ton of detailed info about it or they are actively recruiting.

Trump is literally hitler. That’s why space force uniforms look like SS.

Your kid will not be accepted. The trained are on the system. Humans cannot be part of that branch.

Trump did NOT form Space Force. It was actually JFK that did that. A secret space program.

This must be a joke. You are joking, right PP?

No one could possibly be as stupid as you IRL.

Current countries on earth have capabilities to take out satellites. It is a real danger.
