This man runs past us too close so our little dog reached to sniff his ankle but didnt even get close before dh pulled her back with a warning. We hear this man curse out loudly. Were your husband, and your dog taking up more than 50% of the trail? If so, you were in the wrong. And walk your dog on the right - this isn't Britain.

Well, call out if you are approaching people from behind so they have time to react. Don’t creep up and startle them, for starters.

No, you should not be taking up an inch more than 50% of the path. If you do, there's plenty of space for someone to pass you on the left. Especially if your dog is on the right side.

How convenient to assume we were taking up more than 50% of the path! No we weren’t . We were very much on the right side and so was our dog. It’s high time people take accountability for their own emotions & learn to deal with it in a “mature” manner. I wont use the term adults since these were 2 full grown adults. Surprisingly I find a lot of younger people balanced and centered. Stop taking out your frustrations people who are unconnected with whatever’s going on inside you. Unless you want a bubbling cauldron of resentment everywhere.

Dogs are why I always carry pepper spray. People have really started to take liberties, especially when they justify it with “well, other people aren’t around in this shared public space.”

I hate people like you. You have to see that they are white. Why? Is it because you expect this behavior from black people but it’s shocking when a white person displays this behavior? Pathetic world we live in. I hope your next “incident” doesn’t end well for you.

I have never had a random person pull up next to me and start hurling random expletives. The closest would be a homeless black person outside an office I worked in for a few years.

What did *you* do to cause the man to shout expletives at you? I'm thinking you did something dangerous like cutting him off and almost causing him to crash his truck into you. That's why he was angry at you.

If two people got upset at you in such a short time span, methinks the problem lies in your actions, not theirs.

I'm not sure I understand - can you explain it to us how you were walking?

If everyone in your party is on the right 50%, and the dog is also on the far right of the path, then how in the world was your dog on a short, controlled leash able to get close to the man passing on the left?

This has nothing to do with age. I'm a solidly middle aged woman, but am tired of so many people walking their dogs without consideration for others. I would appreciate if you could explain and paint a visual of how you were walking.

You sound like a racist who can't control their own dog.

Oh look another oblivious dog owner blaming people for getting upset when their dog invades their space.

I don't disagree but if you are running up from behind, a warning like "passing on your left" would help us both enjoy the trails w/o intrusion/conflict.
