This new AP has no interest in doing what’s best for our sped kids. She will fight parents till she exhausts and financial drains then. I’m sickened to see her as a VP

Is it pelosky?

No it's the former APS compliance specialist, although her specialty was not actually compliance. more like non-compliance.

Unless enough parents speak up PUBLICLY to the Super/School Board, APS will just keep doing what it does.

Speak up parents or accept more of the same.

+1 this! BUT the issue is being an afraid to speak up. I know families that have and their kids have suffered.. ie being denied services… sadly it’s this delicate dance you have to do with APS in order to get you SWD services. It’s messed up

Would the Board and Duran even care if APS parents expressed concerns about Koval?
Anonymous
The board and Duran should care because complaints follow her.
Anonymous
They don’t care. SPED isn’t a priority for Duran

Koval was under the direction of Duran, and by extension the Board. She harmed children with impunity. She wasn't stopped because she served the system.

Williamsburg is screwed. Sorry Kids.

They might if enough parents put pressure on them and shame them in public

CK predates Durán. But he kept her on.

Also there is a SB election right now. Only one candidate cares about fixing sped. Vote accordingly.

1. Who?
2. Can you explain what makes you think this candidate cares? Positions, plans, etc.

DP. Families fear retaliation. And they don't know more about their rights. Retaliation happens all the time in APS and APS benefits from what parents don't know. This person is notorious for falsifying information, gaslighting, you name it. She should have been fired but instead she's getting moved to a middle school where she'll sit in the IEP meetings because APs usually do that. OP was right to warn Williamsburg parents.

As a Williamsburg SPED parent who has had good, productive IEP meetings thus far, I'm very concerned, but not sure what I can do.

Band together with other sped parents at WMS. There is strength in numbers.
