According to Robeson County Medical Examiner Dr. Richard Johnson, Miller died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Dr. Johnson said, “Based on the nature of the wound, that it is consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. And it was not in the back of the head, as it has been speculated.”

Johnson said he wasn’t the on-call medical examiner the weekend Miller died, but he did go to the scene to assist the on-call medical examiner. He also serves as a regional pathologist for the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Why are people questioning the medical examiner?

Why are people questioning the medical examiner?

I’m a former criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor who has a penchant for true crime and who often falls asleep to the dulcet voice of the narrator of Forensic Files.

Just in the last few months I’ve seen a few episodes on cases where suicides ruled as such by medical examiners later were found to be homicides.

I think the average lay person who watches CSI and other criminal shows on TV vastly overestimates the competency of the average medical examiner especially in rural America where the evidence they are presented with to put the autopsy in context is gathered by cops who are often as clever as Barney Fife.

Believe me, some of the suicides going into the ground as such every year in America are murder victims whose spouses or lovers or children or what have you got away with murder.

I do remember them often—I’m a pastor’s wife. They arrested and charged three people. At least one was found guilty. As far as I remember he was never a suspect.

Those arrested had previously crossed paths with him and the suspicion was, as stated, that he played a role in setting her up. We may never know. The husband is always a suspect, at least initially.

Exactly the Barney Fifis on the scene that the shot was from the outside of the head. Anybody that has ever seen one of these through the mouth shots kniws what they look like.

No, not all churches vet. In fact, the Southern Baptist Convention leadership actively hid evidence that some of their pastors were sexually abusing kids and women in their churches (and would pass them off to new churches with glowing recommendations to make the problem go away from their local church).

And most non-denominational churches do not have any kind of effective governance due to the “celebrity pastor” movement that brings in $$$.

I’m the PP and this doesn’t describe my church at all. We just went through a three year search to find a replacement for our retiring senior pastor. Our board went through hundreds of applicants.

Yes, but if your church is hiring a youth pastor and the previous church actively hides concerning behavior and doesn’t disclose it, that’s how these people move from church to church.

This is OP. I actually think she did commit suicide. Sounds like she called 911 beforehand. So very sad….

I do not buy it. There is something extremely weird going on.

Social media is teaming with people from the church who knew her and no one believes that she killed herself. She tried to get away from a long time abuser and he killed her for it. I hope he rots in hell.

Her husband, speaking to the congregation (linked in DM article too), is beyond chilling in affect.

What happened to the 1st wife.

He killed her. I bet the park has no cameras.

Very Chris Watts vibe.

Mica Miller pastor husband John-Paul booted from Myrtle Beach church just days after casually revealing his wife 'suicide' to shocked congregation - as doubt swirls over her cause of death

This case is really nuts. And his girlfriend's quad former spouse mysteriously happened to die in a pool, there is weirdness every which way. She and JP were laughing in public together days after Mica's death. So disturbing.

What did she say at the 911 call? I saw the video of her speaking, and she does not seem like the type of commit suicide using a gun. She doesn’t even seem like the type to own a gun. If she went out any other way besides gun, then I may not speculate as much, but given the circumstances, history with husband and a young pretty female, suicide my gun in a park seems very strange to me.

PP here. Never mind. After reading below, I guess she did commit suicide. So sad.
