Hopefully there was a plan to connect this to the trail and something else at some point. Maybe we'll see progress in 5 years? |
*slow golf clap* I'm proud of you for finding meaning in your life. |
D.C. bike lanes are planned to be “performative.” |
There's lots of bike lanes that I've never seen a single person use. It's crazy. |
I can tell you from personal experience “if you build it they will come” simply does not apply to bike lanes. The only people seeing all these cyclists using the lanes are other cyclists. Hard core cyclists are the very embodiment of entitlement on steroids. |
This is basically it. Crazy that the city is now broke and making cuts to education and support to needy families but somehow still has money for bike lanes. It’s quite deranged actually that kids will go hungry so a literal handful of mostly white guys can have more space to enjoy their hobby. |
The quintessential example that bike lanes do not induce usage is Old Georgetown Rd in Montgomery County. |
It's especially pointless on this portion of Arizona because any sane person will bike down the side streets Galena Pl and Potomac Ave. Anyone who bikes will know that Arizona from MacArthur down to Canal is extremely steep. No speed benefit from using that bike lane. |
One thread locked, another emerges. |
You do realize that at the bridge just up Canal road is a stairway. And that stairway goes to the... C&O Canal Towpath. One of the most popular bike trails near the city... |
The people pushing bike lanes have prioritzed status over anything else. Those streets might be better suited for bicyclists but they don't have the cachet of a state street. |
There's more than $250 million in the mayor's new budget for bike things. While we cut teachers. |
