Goalie Save %

50% in college is considered really good.

I’m just wondering how it’s calculated. My thought is that it’s saves divided by shots on goal not overall shots.

Save % really isn’t a good metric for performance.

Especially when looking at girls leagues with no shot clock. I’ve seen games where really good goalies play really good games and they each end up with like 4 saves and let in 9 goals. Because really good teams only take really good shots because they have no pressure to move quickly.

Shot clock chances that a good amount.

Men’s lacrosse on the other hand has a lot more shooting from outside, people getting hit while shooting, and no 8 meter.

Langley goalie also let in 19 goals vs Yorktown and Yorktown only letting in 4 goals. Not much convincing there…good try.

Right. Shots not on goal are not saves. Post shots are not saves. The rule is any shot that would have otherwise gone in goal if not for the goalie intervention is considered a save.

Agree, Men's lacrosse is going to have higher save % for reasons you cite.

I call BS on the Langley stats. They’ve given up 79 goals. No way she has a 84% rate unless she has only played about 1/3 of the time and the backup sucks or faces 50 shots a game. Neither of which is true from watching a few of their games against good comp and I know Wakefield et al is not getting 50 shots a game.

These appear to be boys stats. #1 is Yorktown’s boys goalie and #6 is McLean. #22 is Langley’s backup goalie which explains the high percentage. Not sure where someone pulled these numbers.

How do you think casually dropping outs of the norm stats about your daughter won't come back to you?

She's committed, be happy. I'm not sure why you our so much stock in trying to sway an anonymous chat board. You need a hobby or better friends.

Put those girls in the ISL or WCAC and watch them get lit up those save percentage’s would be closer to 50.

I believe most of the ISL goalies are committed to D1 schools, some to D3 - meaning they are pretty good.

I doubt any of them are averaging over 50%. Thats just the nature of girls lacrosse without a shot clock.

I have had kids in ISL for nearly a decade, there are some great goalies over that period but can't think of any that were much north of 50%.
