Boy's and men's clothes have deep pockets because they carry things in them and it keeps things from falling out. I wear men's shorts all the time for the same reason. Women's shorts and pants sometimes have pockets but they are typically way too shallow, not sure why.

Athletic shorts w/ a zip pocket. Or of the "manly" athletic cross body bags.

My boy would never wear cargo shorts. Jeans would be even worse.

Its joggers or athletic shorts.

Not anymore. The fashionable boys shorts are so far above the knee there's barely room for any pocket. Sky's out; thighs out
