West Virginia Governor Primary

last time I went to WV was a few years ago for the casino. I can't stand that they allow smoking in the casinos over there.... just go to National Harbor. It does cost a bit more, but its worth not smelling a ash tray going back home.

For Senate I am voting for Justice..

No republican is fit for office any office. none zero nadda they are unamerican to the core.

Republican politicians are the ones who (pretend to) care about America and love it.
It’s the democrats always prattling on about how racist and sexist and awful it is.

I’m a WV resident and the politics here are more corrupt than anywhere else I’ve seen: including Washington, DC, Texas, and Belgium.

There is an entrenched culture of disenfranchisement and generational poverty. The geography makes it impossible to grow meaningfully.

I do not have much hope for the state.

Isn't his name Chris? The ads are horrendous and I had to look up what state he is running in.

Why is he running ads on local DC stations. There must be TV stations in WV?

Are there than many trans people in WV? He makes it sound like it's everywhere.

I think he’s trying to keep them contained in MD and VA.

Or just trying to win an election with a wedge issue, which is basically how all Republican politics works. BTW, there is now an attack ad (from the "Black Bear" superpac) saying that Miller allowed trans events while he was on a college's board. So all of this may be backfiring on Miller.

Yesterday on TV, I saw the "Chris Miller will save you from the horrible trans people" ad, immediately followed by the "Chris Miller actually secretly loves the horrible trans people" ad.

I’m not sure why this is such a controversial thing.

Because it's a complete straw man thing that isn't actually happening and people aren't really worked up about.

But the ads are hilarious. And now the attack ads at Miller are even funnier.

The wildest thing about Miller is he wants to abolish the income tax. In West Virginia, which is 49/50 in income among the states. And replace it with a consumption tax, which disproportionately hurts low-income people.

Thank you for your metro DC local politics post.

There are tons of people who live in WV and commute to DC daily and feel like they are part of the DMV and the local politics.

A handful, at most. Does not change the fact W.Va is predominantly vulgar flyover country.

I don't think there is anything wrong with abolish state income tax. Virginia would've done the same both the dems block it.

My Government students are compare and contrast the WV primary ads and the MD primary ads. They are both trying to get their base to turn out to vote, but they are completely different..

Thank you for your metro DC local politics post.

You can be in West Virginia faster than you can get to certain places in the beltway counties. I’d say that’s pretty local.

Yep. If you live in Ashburn, you can be in Shepherdstown, WV in under an hour. It's a quaint college town.

You can even take the MARC train from Union Station to Harpers Ferry and Martinsburg.

Yes. If you live halfway to Shepardstown from downtown DC, you can get there in less than an hour.

On Day 1, we'll audit every dime.

On Day 2, we'll realize that we're totally f***ed and need to get more money from the feds.
