Why would it not be?

What is wrong with you?

Okay. Thanks. Black suit, black shirt, black fedora hat, & white tie ?

Shoes should be black with white trim ?

Wait, what?

Are you okay with a white feather in the fedora hat ?

TIA.

Are you worried some old biddies are going to gossip about your son? What is the concern here

I can tell that you're a classy broad. Any more fashion advice ?

Ok, question answered - you are the old biddie gossiping to other biddies

LOL ! Thank you for your humorous comeback. I like you.

Truthfully, I really thought that black suits were only for somber occasions.

I've actually never heard that. I know black is the prevailing mourning color, but never heard it was inappropriate to wear black items elsewhere. I think he will be fine!

So I really didn't know. I was only married once and that shotgun made me so nervous I cannot remember what I wore.

Navy or Charcoal would be better. If he is a guest at a summer wedding, linen and seersucker are appropriate as well.

What is wrong with you that you have to be such a jerk? In many cultures, it is not appropriate to wear black to a wedding. It's a perfectly reasonable question.

Not everyone is just like you, PP.

People won't notice. (Black dress on a woman is just so much more noticeable.)

Add a colorful tie. Maybe even fun, colorful dress socks.

You obviously don’t live in NY. Black dresses at weddings are de rigueur here. My mind is boggling at the idea of them being inappropriate.

It is totally appropriate to wear a black suit to a wedding. The rule against black is for women, not mean. Men are supposed to wear dark suits. Unless it's a casual beach wedding.

What am I not getting? Don't all dudes wear black suits to weddings?

Pretty much. A bride friend recently announced her wedding guests should all wear black tie and black dresses, and most people were like, yeah, that's what I was planning anyway.

DP: The last 4 funerals I have attended have come with requests from the families that no one wear black, as the deceased wanted a colorful celebration of life. All the rules are going topsy turvy.

It is these days. Look up some black tie invites on The Knot, what to wear says black tux or black suit.
