For this I’d send a bouquet of flowers. I do t love flowers, although I think most mothers do. She’s probably going through a lot of emotions. the thought would probably mean so much. Flowers are relatively zero maintenance for her, not overly personal, and most importantly no added “stuff”. Even a plant brings with it obligation and possibly guilt or stress if it dies. |
Flowers or jewelry. |
Relaxation! I expect my family to wish me, with hugs and perhaps a potted plant. I expect them to not ask me to do too many chores on that day, and HEAVEN FORBID, to wake me up early.
And maybe if I'm in the mood, I'll make afternoon tea with triangle sandwiches and mini scones. It comes after three birthdays, mine and the kids, so we're a little tapped out by then, to be honest. |
Honestly if her husband didn’t do flowers that’s all the more reason for you to send her some this year! It’s really sweet of you to think of this, OP! |
LOL |
Another vote for a bouquet of flowers with a small box of gourmet chocolates if she likes chocolate. |
Not this. |
Burdick’s chocolate, and a phone call from each of my (adult) kids. |
Dh to plan a whole day with kids. I want to sleep in, breakfast in bed, and then picnic or winery. He deals with all tantrums.
Definitely no presents although I like flowers! |
Given OPs follow up post which some of you haven’t read…..

Because all salient details need to be in the OP. Otherwise they will be royally ignored. This is a rule not only on DCUM, but all message boards. |
She knows how much you loved her. Now do you have others to pass that love forward to? Could be anyone! Just carry on with your mom's love! |
I want a new bathtub. That's it. |
I can buy myself flowers... |
Steak, sex, and a bottle of wine. |
