Disney. Nothing else is close.

Will teens like a disney cruise?

Yes. It's not necessarily for little kids.

Oh damn we went on a carnival cruise for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. We wore matching shirts!

Agree with Disney. We just tried Royal and our teens were bored. There is more on board Royal but very few activities to keep kids entertained. Disney is nonstop for teens and the food/service is so much better than Royal. Others on our Royal ship claimed Carnival was similar but actually had better food than Royal. Carnival has a bad rep though.

What led you to comment here? Go away, loser.

I hear good things about the Carnival newer ships, especially Mardi Gras.

Had a terrible billing experience with Carnival and won’t use them again (we canceled completely).

I went on a royal Caribbean cruise about a year ago and the food was horrific. It was really really, really bad. We ate in the specialty restaurants every night we could because the food in the dining room and at the buffet was so bad.

We have only done one cruise, on Carnival, and it seemed like the better foods were the casual options- pizza, burgers, Mexican, buffet and salads. The finer dining was decent enough, but most preferred the former. Our expectations for food were minimal. None of it was fine dining, but we didn’t really expect that. Nobody went hungry and there were plenty of options.

We had better food on Carnival than Royal.

Also, we were a large party and always chose the early dining option. On Carnival we had our own table and great dining room service (the staff were so kind). On Royal they put a random couple at our table to maximize the space. Service was so so.

Do teens really care much about the amenities on the boat? Isn't it much more fun to plan cool excursions and do things wherever you are docked? As long as there is plenty of food and some fun shows (magic, comedy, etc), I think you should care more about your itinerary.

We have done 2 cruises on Carnival but about 8 on RC.

The cruises on Carnival were both "party ships" with rampant drinking and partying at all hours. We had a balcony cabin on one of the cruises that was two decks down and the second block of cabins away from the pool deck and if we were on the balcony or had the balcony door open, we could hear the band from the pool deck clearly, albeit at a moderate level. I can't imagine if we were any closer, how loud it would be, but the elevator lobby at the pool end of the ship on our deck (remember, two decks down) vibrated while the band played. The partying was so bad that there were buckets of beer bottles and glassware all over the ship. People would carry their drinks as they left the bar areas and just deposit them wherever they were when they were done and the ship looked like the morning after of a big party most of the week. I also saw teens sitting with buckets of beer bottles in the stairwells. They got young adults to buy them beer buckets and drank where they were out of site of crew members, mostly in out of the way lounge areas or stairwells.

If you want your teen exposed to the party atmosphere and thinking it was normal or that they should be able to participate, that's the cruise for you.

We've had much better experiences on RC without the drunk party vibe. We've enjoyed those and we've had extended family reunions on RC cruises. Something for everyone. My nieces have been on those cruises with us throughout their teens and 20s and they've had a good time. They've gone to the teen clubs and made friends that they hung around with for the week and they also enjoyed many of the activities on the ships with our kids (they're younger cousins).

The Carnival 7 night Eastern and Western Caribbean trips are nothing like this. You took a booze cruise.

We did an eight day Carnival Eastern Carribean cruise and no booze cruise vibe.

Ours do because the pool decks are too crowded to be enjoyable on sea days and the lines for the cool amenities can get really long. Our last cruise (Southern Caribbean) was four sea days and three port days. The sea days get boring for kids if the kids clubs aren't active. In our case things like table tennis and mini golf weren't happening because bored teenagers threw the balls off the sides of the ship :-/. There were teenagers making friends on the ship but they seemed to be wrecking havoc which isn't my kids' style.
