This is meaningless because if a kid with under a 3.8 from Sidwell gets into a T30 or T40, there's also a strong likelihood they have a hook, including legacy or donor status. So is Sidwell "getting them in" or are these kids who were likely to land at a top school regardless of which private they attended? No way to know, really. As another poster mentioned, you also have recruited athletes in the mix.
Unless you can separate out the unhooked kids and compare their results to unhooked kids from other schools, you can't draw a lot of conclusions. Kids at all the Big3 schools are doing well. It's also another highly competitive cycle, and I'm sure there are students at these schools disappointed with their results. I don't really see the point of this conversation because the metric you are trying to assess is unknowable based on available data. |
I don’t have enough “inside intel” to speak to that. NCS results look great to me. And I do know there are more than 5 very top NCS admits not posted. Out of a class of 71 that seems on par with the other schools. |
Sidwell has done well this year.
I don’t know how to link IG accounts, but there’s a student run Sidwell account (sidwellsaas) that shows seniors wearing their college shirts today. Although there may have been a few students who didn’t participate, or weren’t filmed, the video shows a total of 18 seniors who are attending Ivies in the fall (1 each to Brown, Cornell, and Yale; 2 to Dartmouth; 3 to Columbia; 4 to Harvard; and 6 to Penn). |
That’s fantastic! I’m cheering for all the kids. NCS is half the size (and not as many athletic recruits) and has about the same percentage going Ivy (and MIT). |
No princeton? Last year they had at least 3. |
There was at least 1 Princeton admit this year, but they (purposely hiding gender) are attending Harvard, instead. |
NP. Not to quibble, but I really value accuracy. NCS’ graduating class is not “half the size” of Sidwell’s. NCS has 71 graduating seniors, and Sidwell has 125. NCS has 54 fewer students than Sidwell. Half the size would mean that NCS has 62 graduating seniors. That’s all. Carry on. |
Nice try.
GDS has had much better college admissions this year than Sidwell. |
No one here knows the GPAs of all the kids. This is ridiculous. |
What’s the Insta handle again? |
Having legacy preferences and bold faced name parents also helps. |
That kid got into every school he applied to and he chose that one for a reason. He knows what he wants. |
Last year's Princeton admits were not the strongest kids. They had other hooks. |
Much better? How many GDS students are going to Ivies this year? IG says 17 for GDS. The PP says that a Sidwell IG account says they have 18. |
