Scary illness but seems to have passed

No pediatrician would ever laugh if a parent called because he/she was concerned about a real symptom.

can't believe nobody has seen their kid change color. every time my kid gets nauseous, his skin turns a weird shade of pale/green-ish. Isn't there an expression about turning green? It's a thing. When my kid gets nauseous he also seems really out of it and it's very disturbing.

He was clammy, and collapsing practically, but kept saying his stomach hurt really bad. Once I turn the light on and get a good look at him, I saw his skin was greenish yellow in color. I was freaked out because he was OUT of it, and I thought he would pass out at any moment. He finally ended up going to the bathroom, almost filled the entire toilet with a bowel movement. I had him lay on the floor and put his feet up to elevate. Got better gradually, but it took about an hour before I felt comfortable enough to put him back to bed. I fully expected to call 911 for that hour.
It was very scary, but I’m glad he seems OK today. I kept him home from school just for observation, but he ate pretty normally and had a normal bowel movement. I’ve been researching the greenish/yellow color of skin — cannot find anything that explains that.
Anyone have insight?

You should have taken your kid to the ER. Don't email your pediatrician, call the pediatrician and explain the situation and they will see you ASAP.

Lack of oxygen in the blood makes it bluer. Yellow skin = greenish tint.

All the oxygen was in your DS's intestines getting ready to poop.

Lack of oxygen is consistent with him feeling a bit faint also.

Call your ped if you want to be safe, but looking green when you're not feeling well is common.

Likely vasovagal reflex as one person posted earlier. You can discuss with your pediatrician for reassurance.
