An eternal optimist <3 Glad he's eating lunch now. Thanks for sharing your experience. |
DCB as well. Lunches are one area where charters can really set themselves apart from DCPS if they choose to prioritize them. Does MV8 have a kitchen yet or are they still using a meal service provider? |
The Aramark change at my kids' school seems to be off to a mixed start. Kids actually like some of the mains better than before, but others are bizarre. The ratio of food to dessert also often feels off. (One egg patty topped with nacho-type cheese but no bread (almost like the inside of a breakfast sandwich) plus 3 donut holes?) The vegetables seem to be uniformly better or at least more kid friendly than Sodexo (raw carrots and peppers rather than stewed kale that 0 kids touched). The fruit has too many fruit cups for my taste (what is the point of adding a ton of sugar when most kids would happily eat an orange?), but is otherwise fine. |
I pack a lunch because my elementary school student says the line is too long and he doesn't have enough time to eat. |
This is true for my MS student at Deal, although now he packs his own. |
