Can you tell me what you think of these sandals?

Second pair is definitely uglier. Old grandma.

First pair is stylish. But not in black.

I think the second pair is fine. It is completely unremarkable, which can be a good thing sometimes. Shoes don’t always have to be the fashionable part of an outfit.

I feel like the first pair would make your feet look huge which can be very unflattering.

I bought into the trend and purchased a similar pair of black flatforms last year. I felt old and silly. Wore them once.

I hate to sound mean but I think they are really ugly.

I honestly wanted to hear this! I will stick to what I like best. (https://www.kjacques.fr/en/stacked-heels-sandals/243-8653-alegria.html#/2-size-35/1331-colors-alegria_pul_natural_leather)

^ Those are beautiful but I'd say they are categorically different from the first pair you asked about. The first pair looks meant to wear on a day when you'll be active. This pair looks like shoes for a day you won't be walking much.

Do you want recs for comps for the first pair, that'll take you through a day with a lot of walking?

Agreed -- I am also confused by what you're looking for!

Yes, this is probably true. My teen DD likes them. I would look like I work in the fields if I wore them.

I own the block heel. That's much more squarely my style. I was seeing them as a little too precious with current styling trends and was wondering if I should give a flatform a try in the spirit of staying modern. I'm going to skip it and stay with what I have and Arizona big buckles for casual.

I have the nisolos and they are pretty comfy- I wear them as an alternative to birks, especially on vacation but they are normcore and meant for super casual wear. I will say that I have gotten compliments on them. I find dc is SO HOT that it's nice to have a sandal wardrobe for 1/2 the year. I'd feel like my 9th grade history teacher if I only wore birks- I aspire to that in my 70s!

I wouldn't say they are too precious - but they aren't casual and cool, if that's what you're after. You're not going to wear them with shorts or a cool skirt on a hot day to run around town. Your Birks are probably fine for that, though, if you aren't generally wearing sandals for active days. (I live in a hot climate and couldn't get by with one pair of sandals that go with shorts, myself - but it sounds like we live different lives, maybe!)
