Dublin, Copenhagen, London, or Amsterdam spring break 2025?

Ugh not Dublin. Nothing to do there for a full week.

OP here- thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm hesitant to rent a car in Ireland; their roads make me really nervous!! I feel like that's a better trip when my husband can join us.

I haven't had a chance to look more into Amsterdam except I did find lodging for the week we'll be there in a nice spot for $800 a week.

I went to London 2023 in mid-march and yes, it rained some but we had gorgeous spring weather a lot of the time and I imagine April will be even better. There's lots to do inside when it rains too that is fun. Some of the drizzle was actually part of the charm. Copenhagen weather can't be worse than December and we loved it then.

I'll just do a little more digging on Amsterdam. Thanks!

You can easily take the train out of Amsterdam which is what I would do.

Do the Maritime Museum with your kids... it was a highlight for us.

Rembrandt's house would still be interesting for kids, I think.

Context Tours has tours at both the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum. They are always well done.

Are any tulips out that early in April in Amsterdam? If so, that's my vote.

Agree. I prefer less busy places where I'm not being processed in queues all day. Check out some other Dutch cities and regions.

If you want to be in Europe, how about Italy? Lots of possibilities.

Out of your options, I would pick Amsterdam but my kids are older.

I've been to all four, and they are great in summer. Much cooler than the DMV. But to me, the weather and amount of daylight matter on vacation. I'd go south to Italy, Spain, or Greece in early spring or somewhere domestic that's warm.

We were just in Amsterdam with teens. I agree there are many better cities in Europe for younger kids.

The Keukenhof tulip garden usually opens in late March, so yes.

+ a million.

I normally love Copenhagen (and Denmark) but we had a stopover there last week on the way back from Italy and it was grey, chilly, cloudy - yes, you can do hygge things indoors but why would you choose this over Italy, Spain or Greece?

You have a great list of destinations- but for a summer break not a spring one, IMHO.

Thanks everyone - We DID just go to Spain this spring break and it was wonderful; so wonderful that we would like to spend more time there in the future.....probably 2 weeks summer 2025.

Because we are going to Italy and Spain summer 2025, I'm looking at other places; though I'm not totally opposed to Spain or Italy. I'm also looking at affordable trips.

I'm keeping an eye on flights and what is affordable and good flights from DC; the trick with Spain is that the cheap flights require me to take personal time off and I'm not sure I will have the leave next year to do that but we are definitely just exploring options right now. Thanks!

Copenhagen doesn't have as much daylight as those other choices that time of year.

Well normally spring break is within 2 weeks or so of the spring equinox, which means there is around 12 hours of daylight literally everywhere on the planet.

Yes, a day in Amsterdam is fine but it's not the most kid friendly. But the Netherlands are small and have great transport, so go to the smaller towns and countryside and let them run around. And go to https://www.madurodam.nl/en
