Rubber band wide like the taliban |
The 5 year old rules the roost in that house. Clearly a summer cut would solve a lot of problems but OP is afraid to tell her son no and make a sensible decision on his behalf. |
OP why not just say that your child is a boy? |
Even with a cap, you’re going to have to tie up the hair in some way. It’s very difficult to confine thick curly hair into a cap if it’s loose. Why can’t you just tell your kid to do that to keep their hair manageable? If they’re too stubborn to listen to reason I wouldn’t be inclined to help with detangling the huge mess that will ensue. |
If you can’t have the kid get a haircut for some reason, I guess you just have to deal with it at home. I would do a deep conditioner at home every week I guess? I also wonder if you could dilute some conditioner in a spray bottle with water and have him spray AM/PM or after swim. |
A 5 yr old isn’t going to have a hair care regimen. Just let him endure a painful detangling session as a natural consequence. |
because they don't want to cut his hair and didn't think people would suggest a hair cut for a girl |
If you can’t care for it properly, it gets cut. The end. That is, and always has been, the rule. |
Not OP. We have found sending leave-in conditioner to apply once DD gets out of the pool, and then using kids so-cozy swim 3-in-1 at home anytime she comes in contact with chlorine helps a lot. Braiding also doesn't solve the issues, at least for my daughter, and no, I'm not going to shave my daughter's head--because bald would be the only thing that would work in this whole "cut their hair" theory. |
What 5 year-old cares for their own long hair? |
Are you keeping him in long hair because he identifies as a girl? |
Long hair don’t care 🤷♂️ |
Nothing in-between bald and long curly hair? Really? Nothing at all? Also do you think short hair tangles as much as long hair? Or is it all exactly the same, no difference at all? |
Since your kid is 5, I'm assuming it's not an overnight camp. Shower and lots of conditioner at night works for my 2C/3A kid. |
