Not east coast...but, try Butler University in Indianapolis. |

Most of the “med school admit” rates are worthless comparison points. It mainly means they filter them better and discourage them from applying to med school. |
Agree with this! My DS is in the honors program at Pitt and planning on med school, with so many hospitals on campus, there are many opportunities. |
OP here. We have never been to Pittsburgh. Will definitely check it out this summer. Is the campus in an urban setting inside Pittsburgh? Will also visit VCU and Christopher Newport. DS did not like W&M. I thought this would be a great target. He did not like the environment. |
Agree. For an individual kid, they will have the best chance of med school admission going to a college that is the best fit for that individual to be successful. |
My 4.4 GPA kid got waitlisted at Pitt. So not sure it’s a safety. |
This is a surprise. When did your kid submit the application? I get the feeling it’s safest to apply there early in the cycle, both for admission and merit aid. Agree that it seems great for pre-med. |
Huh, weird. My 4.4 GPA kid got accepted. But that was in September. Did they apply early? |
Yup, just means General Chemistry will be brutal. |
Definitely look at Case Western and Rochester. |
Not in September. That’s why we thought she was waitlisted but didn’t want to assume. It was sometime after Christmas I think, but not 100% sure. |
At some colleges the med school applications are supposed to go through a central advising office where they can discourage applicants from submitting in the first place. This improves their med school admit rate. |
Not huge, urban schools on the East Coast that are not lottery for admissions is small set.
Your kid can study pre-med anywhere, so your kid should really focus on where he wants to go rather than worry about what is the best pre-med program. |
