Also, while WM was the best ranked school that accepted them, they aren’t totally sold on the place and are leaning toward a more rah rah sports university.

Students don't all do study abroad at the same time. Lots of summer and break intensive programs. So it's not like your junior cohort disappears in the spring all at once or anything.

I think PP was referring to the spring admit program, which is different.

Ah, yes, I missed that.

My DS, who graduated from W&M in May '22, did a W&M winter study abroad program in Geneva, Switzerland. It was 3 weeks in January 2022 - about 20 W&M students and a W&M professor. My DS had tried to do a summer program but it was cancelled twice due to Covid. He really wanted to do a study abroad and the one he went on was his only option due to all the Covid cancellations. He had never been out of the country (except on a cruise to the Caribbean) so it was a great way to go abroad for the first time. We paid all the fees to the school. They arranged for housing - they stayed in a hotel. We just had to get his plane ticket. Breakfast was included at the hotel and they had several meals and excursions paid with the program fees. He loved his experience.
