Oops meant 10 year old not 20. |
For the age 12+ set, Escape Room is typically a hit.
Top Golf maybe for boys? It can't be too many people but Escape the Bomb DC and the indoor parachuting place in Centreville are really neat. I find sleepover and skincare night for girls ages 11-14 work. I find Dave and Busters work for boys 11-14. Another thing I've done is just a dinner out with maybe manicures for a few girls prior. Some activity + dinner = all good. Can be shopping at the mall for 60 min before dinner. Then you all leave the mall, done! But none of these are big groups - both my kids invite their group of friends so 3-5 tops. Indoor skating - roller/ice for girls is another suggestion for the ages 11-14 set. |
I’m so glad I’m not the only one. Other parents I’ve talked to made it seem like it’s easier at this age. |
That becomes the hardest part. I understand why the kids want to do more mature things, but that really means you have to limit how many people can be invited. |
My 8th grader (so friends are turning 14) has recently been to the following parties:
Paintball/sleepover Top Golf/playing football at the local fields Hibachi/also playing football at the local fields Sky Zone Basketball & football at one of the elementary schools/pizza |
At night during Glow it would definitely be appropriate! |
My 14 yo went to a party and Sky Zone and enjoyed it.
TopGolf Pinstripes Those are two that my 15 year old has enjoyed recently. They are just happy to hang out and eat. |
DS's friends seemed to take a couple of years off from Sky Zone but he's recently been to two 13 year old parties there, and he loved both. |
