Why are there still product shortages happening?

Surely the cream cheese makers know this based on past years, and could have ramped up production?

I don’t think it’s 100% on the manufacturers. I know the grocery stores like to blame the manufacturers and they put up their little “due to shortages ….” Signs where the cream cheese should be. But I don’t think they order enough to keep up with demand.

I complained so much about almond milk being out of stock at Giant - the regular, non-flavored almond milk - on every store survey that they started putting up signs about “shortages” in the almond milk section. But I truly believe it was on Giant for not ordering correctly. Because the flavored almond milk was always in stock, and Wegmans would have regular almond milk in stock too, but Giant was always out of it.

We bought a home distiller for water, when we moved to the DC area I couldn't reliably find distilled water during the winter for humidifiers.

Unless it's a particular product we need, I just buy an alternative or make something else and move on.

As a mom of two teenagers, I can attest that during heavy flu seasons when my kids were little also saw shortages on kids’ acetaminophen. I always bought two or three bottles in the Fall before flu season hits when they were little.

The only thing giant can keep in stock is rotten fruits and vegetables especially avacados at $2 a piece.

Okay, let's examine your thought process. "Cows, we need to produce more milk in December. Got that?"

Don’t lie.

I don't know about toothpaste at Giant or Safeway, but prices on food and basic goods did go up during the pandemic and have not gone down but keep going up.

I was in the midewest in October, and the stores there were well stocked.

The shortages are just a lie and they just don't reorder things that didn't sell super well and don't order enough of the products people are buying since they don't have the original product they wanted.
