How much for an artificial Christmas Tree and how much to spend?

My understanding is the lights on the prelit trees die and you're out of luck. For that reason we got a tree without lights. We've always had fresh cut trees but switched to artificial. It looks pretty realistic, tho.

Because the lights burn out. And then it ends up in the landfill. Better to just add lights and get new ones when they burn out. I know 2 people with expensive Balsam Hill pre-lit trees that had issues with part of the lights no longer working within 5 years. Yeah you can put new ones on, but you can still see the non-working bulbs. We bought a BH tree, but got unlit so we can keep it for forever and not add to the piles of holiday waste.
