Friday night's distance events could make for a long evening if your child isn't swimming until a later heat. Coach wants them there for warm-up even if they won't be swimming until after 7pm.

That is the worst. My kid is swimming in the middle of the 500 free at another site and does not have to be there at the start of the session (which includes the 9-12 200 breast before the 500 free). A good and experienced coach should not make a kid swimming at the end of the 500 free show up for the warm up before the start of the session knowing that kid won’t swim until at least 3 hours later.

It’s positive checkin. They need to show up to check in or they don’t get seeded

The coaches check them in.

That is a bad practice. That’s what leads to kids being checked in, not showing up, and then getting a penalty

That’s on the kid though. Positive check in was 5:15, if you didn’t know by 5:15 whether you were coming to swim that is on you. It makes no sense to have a swimmer sitting around for 3 hours before they swim.

Lol. It is limited seating compared to many other similar sites. The teams take up most of the seating as it is so tight on deck.

UMD is the gold standard. PWCS seating is large and well ventilated. Jeff Rouse in Stafford is also excellent.

OP here. Thanks for the heads up on seating. I was able to snag volunteer slots both days instead of fighting for a lace to sit. I felt it was a very well-run meet and a nice facility. Way, way out there though!

Good job OP.

Seating was a disaster and parents blocking swimmers.

Sending good thoughts to the 13-14 boy that was taken to the hospital. Poor thing looked to be in a lot of pain.

Does anyone know what happened to the boy? He was in the final heat.
