Termite Treatments - I don't want to tent my house

The challenge with Sentricon is that when the termites go in between the stations directly to the house, it does not work. By contrast, injecting poison into the ground all around the perimeter of a house with a basement leaves no gaps through which termites can attack. Soinjecting poison works better.

We're also experiencing a problem with termite infestation but we've had treatment every year since we spotted one. Aren't there guarantees with most company's and their treatment? We're on the border of Mclean/Arlington,

I live in AZ where it's only a matter of time until you get termites. Our house is only 3 years old and we just noticed them. We had 2-3 areas outside and one small area inside so we caught them before they were bad.

We had them spot treated and then had termite treatment placed around the perimeter of the house. They put something in the ground every tenish feet. It's supposed to deter them from coming near the house. They refill the bait/traps every year. It's not cheap but you don't have to tent the house.

PP here near McLean/Arlington border. We did the same, spot treated, then put bait traps with renewal every year but this year we noticed more in the same spot so we asked them to return. Once they returned they said we should be good but THEN my husband started tearing down drywall and we discovered millions of live termites. It was terrible. Now we're bracing for what to do next. We have our contractor coming tomorrow to determine next steps. I don't think termite company is liable bc they missed the source which caused them to create more robust colonies. I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone.

I am told in Florida, where termites are much worse, houses often are built out of masonry - rather than having structural wood framing as is normally done here. Not sure if that is true. Sounds expensive.

The bait traps don’t work that well. Poison (Termidor, I think its called) which is injected into the ground is what works pretty well in VA.

anyone know if it's mandatory for builders to pretreat for new residential construction in the state of VA?
