We had them spot treated and then had termite treatment placed around the perimeter of the house. They put something in the ground every tenish feet. It's supposed to deter them from coming near the house. They refill the bait/traps every year. It's not cheap but you don't have to tent the house.
PP here near McLean/Arlington border. We did the same, spot treated, then put bait traps with renewal every year but this year we noticed more in the same spot so we asked them to return. Once they returned they said we should be good but THEN my husband started tearing down drywall and we discovered millions of live termites. It was terrible. Now we're bracing for what to do next. We have our contractor coming tomorrow to determine next steps. I don't think termite company is liable bc they missed the source which caused them to create more robust colonies. I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone.
