Help plan Boston vacation (for college tours)

I would stay somewhere near Boston Common, walkable to the green line T - like the Godfrey, Hyatt, or Ritz depending on your budget.
Day 1 Green line to BU in morning, have lunch, walk to Northeastern in afternoon.
Day 2 drive to Tufts, walk to davis square for lunch, red line to Harvard Square, buy something at the Coop. (You COULD visit all the colleges just by using the Green Line as Tufts now has a Green Line stop. But you'll get a feel for the walk/red line between Davis and Harvard Square.)
Day 3 You'll be close to South Station, take Acela to Providence.
Fly out of Providence or head back to Boston.

I live just north of Boston. I would fly into Providence and spend one day there. It is a great city and many schools you can see, great restaurants. You can take Amtrak or the commuter rail to Back Bay and then spend the night in Boston. I would try to see BC since you are there- it is an easy T ride. You can combine BU and NE easily and walk between both. Also Boston Marathon is April 15, 2024. That is NOT a good time to be in Boston as everything is crazy that entire weekend.

I have a kid at Northeastern and we did this trip in 2021 when we were scouting out colleges (though we couldn’t do official tours due to Covid). If you stay in Back Bay you can walk to both Northeastern and BU. We did this, and just drove to see Tufts and BC and Brandeis. We’ve also walked from Back
Bay all the way to the North End/Little Italy, seeing the Common along the way (and took the T back). Such a fun college city!

Boston Marriott Long Wharf. Hotel has a great breakfast. T is right outside the door. Can walk to most attractions. Right next to all the boat tours, aquarium etc. Duck Boat Tours great way to get an overview of the city.

FWIW, some of the suggested itineraries sound pretty heavy for a 10th grader, who may be just starting to get their head around what they are looking for in a college. At the very least, I would dial it down to one tour per day and throw in some other fun stuff to do.

I think Chat GPT laid out a good itinerary- it's pretty easy to get around Boston. You can easily see NE, BU and Boston College in the same day. Then a morning in Harvard Square and afternoon at Tufts.

I would do these pairings
Tufts/Harvard square
Bu/northeastern
A day to see “suburb schools” ie Bentley, Brandies, BC or go to Worcester and see Clark and holy cross.
Providence is one of my favorites cities - great food and donuts (knead). I would visit providence college and maybe roger Williams or brown.

You can see more than one college a day, but only if your teen cooperates.
