$30 sitter rate for 2 kids?

We pay $27 per hour for two kids. Our former nanny.

This is illegal, period. Also, never heard of $30 hourly for 2 kids. Rates start at $32 and any OT worked is 1.5.

I'll be honest here and I'm sure some will say I'm foolish but I am well compensated and even better, treated very well by my employers. Having a nanny is costly so I have no problem charging a slightly lower rate in cash. Everyone ends up happy. Frankly I'd rather they ask me than someone else.

This is crazy.

$30 an hour for babysitting is insane. I’ve never heard of anyone paying more than low 20’s/hour.

This isn’t North Dakota.

This isn't North Dakota, but also this isn't that expensive a place to live. The most I've paid is $20 for three kids

I've been doing this for 15+ years, file taxes every year, and never had an issue so not worried about it at all. As far as the rate, I charge my employers less because evening care for me is so much less work than the typical day-to-day of regular weekday care so I guess it depends on what works best for you two. For context, my pay is $25/$1,000 every 4 weeks and for ad-hoc evenings I charge $20 with a 4hr min.

Except it’s not actually totally fine because there are wage and labor laws about this.

I pay $25 for one child so I guess $30 is right but it does sound high!

If you insist on this it just means they’ll hire other nannies for babysitting instead of you. Considering those are the easiest jobs, it’s kind of silly.

I make $32 an hour as a teacher with 30 kids in my classroom. I don’t get 1.5 for overtime, which is 15 or so hours a week.

You’re telling me I can make way more working with just 2 kids?

We pay a HS sitter who drives $20 an hour for 2 kids in moco. I don’t need to pay $30 an hour for someone to play with my kids, feed them pizza I order, watch a movie with them, then browse their phone while my kids sleep.

This is what we did. One the rare occasion where we used our nanny from our nanny share, we paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $20-25 under the table.

Illegal or not, that is what we did. They were ok with it. We were ok with it. Doesn't really matter what some of you think.

I wear dark glasses and a trench coat on the nights I babysit.

*$1,000 every week

But it's actually illegal. The decision to tax or pay overtime is actually governed by laws ( eg if you pay for a minimum amount per year(- you can't just decide to call some babysitting and some nannying and treat it differently.

And every year you have to increase $1

Childcare can be exhausting and they deserve the pay. If you can, or give big bonuses at Christmas, birthdays
