Which one is more important, our club coaches really seem to be pushing imx score? Is that what college coaches look for or should I tell the coaches my swimmer wants to focus on power index? |
Our club talks about IMX through middle school to make sure kids aren’t specializing too early but by high school it no longer matters. For college recruiting the IMX score doesn’t matter because at that point you are specializing in certain events. For example, if you are a breaststroke/IM recruit no one cares about what you do in the 500 free, or 200 fly, or 200 back. |
PP- How old is your kid? PI is not really important until the swimmers are 15/16 and are about to start the college recruiting (June 15th after their sophomore year) Please don't go to your kids coach and tell them what your swimmer wants to focus on, ever. Coaches coach and parent's drive, feed and pay! This week college swimmer told me that one of the freshmen on their team gets phone calls and texts from their mom telling the swimmer that they are going too slow while the meet was in progress. PLEASE don't be that parent. |
If your swimmer is fast, colleges will find you without swimcloud. That said, it was helpful my my recruited swimmer to determine where they would fit best among the current swimmers on the team. |

IMX doesn't matter once you get to the high school level. You need to have five events for high school and only three events for college. So if you are 200 breast, 200 IM, and 100 breast - those would be the only three events that they would want you for. |
