It's like they know unemployed people can't afford attorneys to challenge them so they just make things up as they go along |
Well, technically I could afford an attorney but based on the calculations, I am supposed to get $350/week so that not worth getting an attorney. Virginia unemployment still sucks. What have they been working on this last year. Didn’t the learn anything from COVID! Obviously NOT! |
Currently experiencing the nightmare of VEC also. My husband was unable to reach anyone by phone and the website claimed his SSN didn't exist when he tried to register. Interesting that the state can find it valid come tax time. Anyway, he finally went to the local office and was told he could schedule an appointment - FOR A WEEK LATER! And when he go there he was told by the staff "yeah, don't use the website, it doesn't work". !!!! Then somehow whatever information was put into the system was flagged and we got 4 pages of questions about his claim (he was on a temp to hire position and at the end of the probationary period an offer wasn't extended). The form they sent us asked things like "date of first incident" and "what corrective actions were you given?" -- nothing happened! It just wasn't a fit for either party - there was no misconduct.
So, after waiting for the VEC's decision, we get an email saying follow this link to check the status of your claim. Once again - his SSN isn't recognized. The number they have for customer service in Richmond is DISCONNECTED. HOW do you list an invalid number on your correspondence??? Needless to say, we have no idea what the decision is and haven't received a dime. Totally disgraceful, Virginia. Our tax dollars are paying for....what??!?! Luckily we can make it work (barely, and only temporarily) with my job, but what about people that can't??? When my husband went to the office there was a woman in the parking lot crying because no one would help her!!!! |
It is truly terrible. I feel your pain
Call the number and leave a call back number. They will not answer the phone. I had to call 4 or 5 times just to leave my call back. They say they will call back in 48 hours but they don’t. You just have to leave a call back until the actually call you back. They finally called me and the woman was able to resolve my incident regarding vacation pay. I also had identity issues. But it took another week to resolve and for her to enter it in their system. I finally got 3 weeks of unemployment paid. It’s not much but I can sleep a little better. |
