But even disregarding the stats quoted by Bob and JM, where on earth did you read that all BL contestants gain the weight right back? And do you not have eyes? Did Ali Vincent gain it back? Helen Thomas? Bill Germanakos? Michelle Aigulair? No and no and no and I could go on and on and on. Julie Hadden. Vickie, Heba, Danny Cahill . . . Wake up, woman. |
Wow, how do you have time to exercise and take your supplements with all the time you spend tracking BL contestants? ![]() |
Like I said, I've been into this stuff all my life. I'm a huge fan. And pictures say more than a thousand words:
So, OP, you can choose. You can listen to people who are satisfied with their mediocrity pooh-pooh your goals, or you can reach for the stars. If you want to eschew Cindy Whitmarsh because not enough people have heard of her to feel comfortable with her (as they do with the obnoxious JM), go ahead and cut off your nose to spite your face. If you want to avoid a supplement that is natural, and has been proven safe and effective because someone who is most likely unhappy with her body calls that "hawking diet pills" do that, too. I'm the one whose wearing a bikini at the pool and at the beach this summer. |
You cant compare BL with WW. There have been 100+ people on BL and probably hundreds of thousands on WW. Its impossible to compare the 2 by number of people who maintain the weight loss.
BL also involves constant monitoring by a dr and doing nothing but working out w/ limited food options for Statistically, losing too much weight too quickly is not healthy for the moderately overweight person and will generally cause difficulty maintaining that kind of loss. |
You're a fool. BL has had over 600 contestants. |
And since when is being monitored by a doctor a bad thing? The contestants do not work out constantly. They work out from 4 -6 hours a day. I wish I had that luxury. There's nothing unhealthy about it. That's how we survived as a species. Sitting at our desks and struggling to work in one hour to work out is what's killing us. Working at for 4 hours a day is not. And what is wrong with having a limited number of healthy food options??? I mean, are you serious? That's what you do to lose weight. You limit your calories and your foods.

There's just no such thing as an easy fix. OP, you will gain back those pounds instantly.
So take it slow. - Cut out some major carbs. and eat a balanced diet. If you're a novice in the dark, leafy greens arena (Kale's my favorite.), try them out! They're nutrient-rich, filling, and high in fiber. - Combine cardio and weights. The more muscle mass you have the more efficiently your body works. And if you're not a runner, do an aerobics video or take a long walk. I lost most of my baby weight walking about an hour a day - with the baby. - Drink plenty of water (8 to 9 glasses a day). I purchased a water body (24 oz) and I fill it up 3x/day. - And do something relaxing like yoga or pilates. (Pilates is relaxing for me.) videos: - loved the older Firm videos - Jari Love is great for weights. - I recently hopped on the kettlebell craze b/c it's an efficient workout. (There are a few videos out there to get you going. Ryan Shanahan has some good - although somewhat redundant - routines.) And don't expect miracles. |
Why must you end your post on this condescending note? People are entitled to their opinions, and what works for you - supplements and all - may not be what people are looking for. I'd prefer to get nutritional benefits through foods. to each his/her own |
PP, you barely touched on what Cindy Whitmarsh just explained at length and in detail in her videos, so why try?
No one said it would be "easy". I said it would be hard. But it can be done, and it can be done fast. Cindy Whitmarsh isn't telling anyone that it's easy. She tells you that it can be done. And she tells you how to do it. Of course, I'm getting kickbacks from her, so don't listen to me. The truth is that there's no better exercise instructor out on DVD than Cindy Whitmarsh: http://www.amazon.com/Rk-Better-Artist-Not-Provided/dp/B0029Z8K3I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1279036214&sr=1-2 And Fucothin gets pretty postive reviews as well://www.amazon.com/Garden-Life-fucoTHIN-90-Count-Bottle/dp/B0010WD33S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1279036336&sr=8-1-catcorr |

Posted a bad link above, sorry. |

I'm sorry. My reply to PP got mixed with her question. Here is my reply:
Because people used a condescending tone with me -- calling me a hawker and a pusher, while I'm the one with better results. And either read my posts, or enroll in a reading comprehension course. Where have I said anything about not getting your nutritional benefits through food? Nowhere. FucoThin does is not a substitute for food. It is a natural compound of concentrated seaweed and pomegranite oil. It does is not a stimulant, and will not decrease your appetite. It is a fat-burner which will increase your metabolism by up to 20%. But who would want to boost their metabolism naturally? Like we do with water, and sleep, and exercise? FucaThin. If it is delivered in the form of a gelatin capsule, it must be the work of the devil. I guess my multi-vitamin, and my Glucosamine/Chondroitin, my Calcium supplement and my Lysine supplement are "pills" by your definition, too. Such close-mindedness. Like I said, I'm the one wearing a bikini, not you. OP might do well to consider the source of her advice. |
I just had a look at the FucoThin reviews. While not 100% positive, it was enough to convince me to order a bottle. What's to lose? |
Can't help it, have to add I think the BL TV show is horrible as it shows the most unhealthy, unrealistic way to lose weight. Who can keep up that type of exercise regime? I wonder how many injuries they hide? How realistic is it to maintain a diet program that had one of the finalists crying at a restaurant because she couldn't eat anything?
My plan would be to eat healthy, cut back, exercise and see what your body does. I think its more realistic to lose 1-2 pounds, but some weeks you may lose more. If you feel OK, go with your body. What type of intensity are you looking for with exercise DVDs? Are you a beginner or advanced? I think its best to start out slow and build up, because injuries are hard to recover from. |
On and on with the BL criticisms. Once the contestants reach their goal weight, they do not have to keep up with the same intensity and duration of their workouts. They switch to a maintenance workout. Duh.
They do not hide any injuries. When Laura from Season 7 broke her pelvis, no one hid that. When Simone from Season 7 suffered an injury, no one hid that. When Tracey collapsed after running a mile in the opening challenge of Season 8, they showed her being air-lifted to a hospital. Mo from the same season had to be hospitalized for a brief period after than mile. They admitted that that particular challenge was not a good idea, and said if they had it to do over again, they wouldn't have done it. Mike Ventrella (the winner from season 9) was hospitalized for heat cramps after the opening bicycle challenge, and that was not hidden. And on and on. Miggy had to have surgery for appendicitis in Season 9, and that was not hidden, even though it wasn't related to her weight loss. O'Neal sustained an injury to his leg during a challenge in Season 9 -- they worked around it. They showed him going to the hospital, too. And Maria from Season 9 also went to the hospital after falling on her face and breaking her nose during a challenge. Yup, when you exercise, you can get injured. That's sports. BL never hided any of it. With all of that said in great detail -- most of the contestants do not get injured. I don't remember an episode in which one of the contestants was crying at a restaurant because she could not eat anything. I doubt the legitimacy of your story, as I watch every episode. They take the contestants to restaurants to teach them how to eat there, so that does not ring true to me. I do remember Tara crying that she ate some pita chips. People on that show cry a lot. I just don't recall it happening in a restaurant. And, as I think I've demonstrated above, had that happened, I'd probably remember it. You sound horribly informed PP. You've concluded BL is the Devil, and now you want to find facts to support your conclusion. Most people look at facts first, and then form conclusions, but you go right ahead at have it your way. Like I said, I'm the one wearing the bikini. |
