Buying at Carmax - more reliable than other used dealers?

No dealer can list the out the door price because they can't know in advance in which state you are going to register the car (this will determine the sale tax).
Even the listed price at grocery stores isn't the out the door price.

The listed price at Carmax is firm. No negotiation. The out the door price is simply: Listed price + Tax + Car registration + $99 processing fees.

You pay a little more than you could negotiate if you are good, but no skeezy criminals to deal with. I think they make more money from buying cheap before selling.
